The latest property phenomenon – build-to-rent (BTR) properties for Generation Rent – will be on the agenda at Insider’s upcoming North West Residential Property Breakfast.

Outside London, the region has the highest volume of BTR homes completed, under construction or in planning. The so-called Generation Rent is fast-becoming one solution to the UK’s housing crisis, with tenures that offer more security, stability and predictability to renters.

According to data from the British Property Federation, there were up to 30,000 BTR homes under development across the North West at the end of the first quarter of 2018. For the region’s property sector, it is therefore an attractive proposition, sought-after by investors with appetites for long-term rental incomes.

Given this rapid rise in the number of BTR housing, now is the perfect time to examine what is behind this, how the sector is reacting and what is in the pipeline.

One of Insider’s most popular annual events in the region, the North West Residential Property Breakfast, which is taking place on 31 October and is coming to Liverpool for the first time, being held at Princes Dock.

Sponsored by Peel Land & Property, Falconer Chester Hall, Furnish That Room and Lambert Smith Hampton, the event will hear from some of the most authoritative residential property voices in the region who will discuss the various developments, investments and plans for the market in Liverpool and the wider region.

Speakers include: Michael Dong of Investar Property Group, the company developing the £6m Melody Gardens scheme in Salford; Michael Howard of urbanbubble, which is behind the Slate Yard development, also in Salford; Ed Ellerington of Packaged Living, a BTR business working on 1,500 units over the next three years; and Akeel Malik of Urban Splash Residential Fund, which is providing investment opportunities in the North West’s PRS market.
