Centor said it is focused on building business in Kent following the opening of its office in Discovery Park, Sandwich, as it targets science and innovation clients.
Neil Walton, Centor CEO, told Insurance Age that the broker would be seeking to work with the global science and innovation clients which are also based at Discovery Park
He commented: “Discovery Park in Sandwich, where the office is based, is one of Europe’s leading science and technology parks. We felt its focus on innovation and enterprise was a great fit for Centor.
“We also thought there was a need for a strong independent broker in Kent and East Sussex following several acquisitions and consolidations of smaller companies.”
He continued: “We aim to be the broker of choice for Discovery Park, and to establish ourselves as a key insurance broker in London and the South East.”
Experience
Walton advised that he was confident of success in Kent due to his experienced team and knowledge of industries in the area.
He added: “It will certainly give us greater geographical reach. The companies we’ll be working with have a global footprint and this is a great opportunity for us to build upon that.
“We want to focus on building business in Kent and London and continuing to offer the best possible service to our existing clients.”
Walton pointed out that John Belligan and Neil Templeton are commercial development managers at the branch, which opened in January, and said they both know the Kent area well.
Growth
Belligan commented: “We are excited to branch out into Kent as it is a very important area for us, an area with sustainable growth and innovative people. It’s a very exciting venture for us, being our first office outside of London and we’re looking forward to providing an independent broker service to individuals and corporations across the county.
“I have known the site for some time, having worked in the area for the past three years as a member of Locate in Kent. It has a phenomenal atmosphere with creative and innovative people and companies. We’re looking forward to being part of that.”
