Demolition to begin at JV’s Castings
Hertfordshire-based contractor Midgard can begin knocking down buildings between Longacre Street and Heyrod Street in Manchester to make way for Packaged Living and Fiera Real Estate’s 350-home build-to-rent scheme.
In February, Manchester City Council granted planning approval for the Castings, within the city’s emerging Piccadilly East district.

Build to rent specialist Packaged Living has picked JRL-owned main contractor Midgard to build its high-rise scheme of 352 flats in the developing Piccadilly East area of Manchester. ‘The Castings’ scheme consists of four stepped building elements rising to 25 storeys with smaller components at 7, 14 and 20 storeys.

Build to rent experts Packaged Living has selected JRL-owned main contractor Midgard to deliver £70m The Castings private rental tower, 352 flats in the developing Piccadilly East area of Manchester. ‘The Castings’ project includes four stepped building components rising to 25 storeys with smaller elements at 7, 14 and 20 storeys. It is projected to take 32-months and will be built on a single acre site on Heyrod Street near to the planned HS2 station. The scheme was designed by architect CallisonRTKL, in partnership with Arcadis, M&E engineer Crookes Walker and Curtins.

Winvic tops out on build to rent scheme in Milton Keynes
Winvic has topped out on Aubrey Place, a 294-home build to rent scheme in the heart of Milton Keynes.
In January 2020, Packaged Living and Fiera Real Estate, the original owners of the site, signed a funding agreement with Invesco for this purpose-built build to rent scheme.
When complete the development will comprise 294 one, two and three-bedroom build to rent apartments split over 18-storeys.
The development will also benefit from 83 car parking spaces, 294 cycle storage facilities, commercial space of 2,500 sq ft and 17,324 sq ft of internal and external amenity space, ranging from a ground floor reception and lounge, to roof terraces, parcel storage and two landscaped courtyards.
