Grace Academy, Coventry, is a secondary school with over 800 pupils. The main catchment area covers some of the poorest parts of the UK, resulting in a high proportion of disadvantaged families, who are likely to have a household income of less than £18k per annum. The Academy estimates that its percentage of disadvantaged pupils is more like 55% compared to the 20% national average.
On 13th – 15th May, over 200 property professionals took part in the Fiera Real Estate Ekiden Fundraiser, raising money for Grace Academy to fund the school’s new library, sports, music and science equipment and learning support for the pupils, to help them flourish in their development, confidence, and resilience. So far, the campaign has raised over £53,000! All teams did an amazing job at fundraising, but the top fundraisers were:
- Scrambled Legs, led by Emma Cullen raising over £16,300
- Fiera Real Estate Team 9, led by Alex Price, raising over £5,900
- Opus Land raising over £4,100
Teams of 10 took on a variety of different challenges over the weekend, walking from London Bridge to Richmond, a group cycle around the Cotswolds, a cycle around Jersey as well as many other running and walking activities. The total distance covered was over 6,300km. The top three teams who covered the most distance were:
- Cubex Team 2 (40km walk)
- Steve Wrights Team (30km walk)
- Opus North (averaging 110km cycle per team participant)
Thank you to everyone who took part and helped us to raise this fantastic sum of money, which will make a huge difference to Grace Academy pupils.
